I like that they consented to showing the switch. It really shows and help other to at least understand DID. I have read a dark romance novel (traumas). I was surprised when halfway thru the book, I realized that the other four characters are alters. It is a well-written book and very respectful about the topic of DID. That's the first time I got introduced to what DID is really like (tho I know it is still fiction, the story, that is). It is better than the horror/thriller movies depicts of what DID is.

Also feeling the struggle of living with chronic pain and mental illness for the majority of my life I do often feel like i've lost who I was myself and it's super hard to deal with. I've basically come to the conclusion myself that even though i'm not as active as I was (cycling running walking a lot and enjoying it) I still have a personality and it really helps ground me that even though what I thought defined who I was by the things I did isn't always the case and it's okay to embrace change in yourself and to adapt to a new self so to speak. Idk it's weird and even though I miss doing what I was able to do I try to find a similar joy in what i'm able to do now. Of course its still difficult dealing with mental illness and physical illness just have to take each day at a time and try not to focus on what used to be

This whole shifting thing honestly makes me kinda nervous. I know that for some people it can help deal with trauma. lucid dreaming has been specifically linked to treatment of recurring nightmares (Spoormaker, 2006). With all of this said though I think that telling children that they don’t have to experience this reality if they don’t want and completely dissociate from their current world seems unhealthy to me. It also doesn’t help that whenever I actually voice my concerns there is a wave of people saying that it’s not hurtful, or I’m being sexist (apparently due to it being a predominantly female community). The issue is that while now it can be a little bit unhealthy, I fear that it will only get more and more dangerous as the thing goes on. This would be like psychics trying to take advantage of literal children or people with trauma. Also it doesn’t help that the only scientific backing (the cia document) that is shown to people asking for scientific proof is completely false and doesn’t prove anything. I’d love to have a proper civil discussion though!

i’ve only just been diagnosed with bpd and i’m still trying to navigate my personal triggers and figure what parts are me and what parts are my disorder. when you’re in the moment you feel so strongly about what your doing and then once you get over that dip you realise how much you’ve overreacted and then you begin to feel the guilt. i can be madly in love with someone and never want to hurt them, but i don’t seem to recognise terrible it is to emotionally manipulate someone. like obviously i see it and i know it’s bad but i seem to justify it in my mind. crazy crazy shit, nothing is ever just calm, my whole world is in black and white.
